Outreach Ministry Committee
This committee works toward fulfilling the social teachings of the Catholic Church by promoting healing, restoring hope, and affirming human potential. We achieve this by effectively addressing the needs of those in our own parish and the broader community to the best of our ability. We also provide support to many other organizations that aid and comfort those in need. The committee’s focus areas include:
- Addresses outreach concerns and needs within our own parish and its boundaries.
- Discusses, develops, plans, and leads outreach activities/events and programs to address and support the needs in our local, national, and international communities, to promote outreach awareness, and to provide parishioners with engaging opportunities in ministering to the hungry and homeless, the destitute, disadvantaged and marginalized.
- Provides support for:
- Seasonal outreach events include: Back to School drive, SVdP Thanksgiving food collection and K of C Coat Drive, Christmas Angel Giving Tree gift drive, Alternative Christmas, 40 Cans for Lent, Bedrolls for the Homeless, Travel Toiletries Collection, Baby Bottle Campaign and Diocesan Baby Shower, World’s Longest Yard Sale to support Project Sheluka, Fr. Ruschman’s Garden of Gratitude, Rosary Guild, Prayer Blankets, Mary Rose Mission Soup Kitchen, Right to Life events, Walking With Moms in Need, Mothers Day and Fathers Day Recognitions.
- Domestic Mission Trips annually and every fifth year, an international mission trip.
- We also coordinate Outreach projects with our PSR program, elementary school and preschool, and other parish ministries.
- Grant program: develop outreach activities to connect parishioners’ time and talent with each grant recipient.
- Monetary funds from the parish tithe to St. Augustine Parish Center and the parish chapter of St. Vincent dePaul Society.
This is a discerned committee of 15 parishioners, serving a three-year term, and one youth representative, serving a one-year term.
Meetings are on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Center.
