Garden Ministry

The Fr. Ruschman Garden of Gratitude is a vegetable garden that provides fresh produce to local nonprofit organizations that minister to the needy. The garden is named in honor of Father Albert Ruschman, a local priest and avid gardener, who served at our parish in the summer of 2005.

Volunteers perform 100% of the garden’s planting, maintenance, harvesting and delivery of its produce. It is a very family friendly activity and ideal for all ages. Working the garden is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families, parish groups (Men’s Group, Confirmation groups, Youth Group, CRHP, small prayer groups, etc.), students  looking for service hours,  or simply a way to get involved with feeding the poor in this unique way. It is wonderful to be part of something that has an immediate impact on the needy in our community and to know someone in need is reaping the fruits of our labor.

Planting takes place in the spring; see the parish bulletin for dates.  Harvesting takes place early June thru mid-October on Monday evenings and Thursday at 8:30am. Deliveries are made on Tuesday mornings and after harvesting on Thursdays.   Sign up to be added to the email list for news or just come ready to work.
